On January 7th of 2021 I saw the chief of the USA capitol police appear on the news. He was angry that some of his men had collaborated with the protesters and promised they would be punished. This story then disappeared completely.
On August 10th of 2023 the same Steve Sund reappeared in an hour long interview with a national news figure. Hear it for yourself here.
The executive summary is this. FBI agents had infiltrated the various groups and militias and knew there were threats of arson and murder. None of this intelligence was brought to the attention of Steve Sund. When the trouble began he called everyone he could for emergency aid but none was forthcoming. It took over an hour for Nancy Pelosi to authorize reinforcements by the National Guard. Even after the authorization the Guard commander moved no troops to the capitol until it was all over. The next day Nancy Pelosi fired Steve Sund and appointed chief of intelligence Yogananda Pittman in his place. Steve Sund talked with officers in intelligence. They had gotten info and sent it up the chain but it never got to Steve Sund. He says it was an intelligence failure so why was the chief of intelligence promoted?
Steve could not get his story into news media. In April of this year he was interviewed by Fox News but the interview was never broadcast. Interviewer Tucker Carlson said “They immediately recoiled if you asked any questions about January sixth … and that was the tipoff to me.” Fired by Fox, the newly independent Tucker repeated the interview and on August tenth distributed it through the Internet.1 The two men operate skillfully as a sort of tag team. Sund sticks to the verifiable facts while Carlson fills in the blanks, he “connects the dots”. Carlson suggests that Nancy Pelosi may have set the whole thing up, presumably to discredit Trump’s attempt to stop the transfer of power.
Sund & Carlson’s contention that the whole thing was a setup has been greatly bolstered by newly released evidence in the case of Jacob Chancely, the so-called QAnon Shaman. He was sentenced to five years in prison for his highly visible role. Once there he was punished with a severity that would be quite unusual for even the most violent or creepy offenders.2 Then a whistleblower released evidence concealed by the prosecutors. The capitol police can be seen helping Chancely make his way into the Senate chamber, looking for an unlocked door and so forth. They wanted him in there for the world to see. This was kept secret. Once the evidence was made public Chancely was granted early release to a halfway house. Tucker Carlson said that “there were people there [Fox] who were mad at me” for releasing this evidence. Why? It got Jacob out of a very bad situation.
All that being as it may or may not be, there is a small but key thing missing from all this. Sund mentions in passing that the ultimate control of the capitol police was shared between the two Majority Leaders, Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell, but then blames only Pelosi. It’s almost a certainty that Mitch was involved during the crisis, but it is absolutely a certainty that Sund’s dismissal on January 7th had his approval. So if the whole thing was a setup followed by a coverup the Republican leadership was equally involved. This shouldn’t be a surprise. In the early days the Republican party leaders were quite forthright about their disapproval of Trump’s candidacy and then presidency. The solidly Republican Congress would not vote money for the Mexico wall that was the central issue of his campaign. During the January 6th meeting McConnell denounced the movement to challenge the electors, saying it would “damage our republic, forever.” So…McConnell and the Republican leadership he represents were strongly against Trump’s efforts to overturn the election and could very well be involved in a slick covert maneuver to abort this effort. It worked.
I often read that the January 6th disruption was not a threat to overthrow the government. This is completely correct. But what then was it? It was a rally in support of Trump’s attempt to have the electors declared contested. Most people don’t know this, but in the Constitution there is a crazy loophole that if the electors are contested then each state gets one vote to elect the president. Trump would have won such a vote. This plan had support from Ted Cruz and many other legislators. Could this weird contraption really have been put into action? You bet. It was done in 1876 and there is nothing stopping it from it’s being done again today. While arguably legal3, such a grossly undemocratic and unfair victory would have justly outraged voters, quite possibly leading to a bloody civil insurrection. Would the Republicans and Democrats have collaborated to avert this? You bet your booty they would. The great majority of American voters rightly fear a violent rebellion. If the proceedings could be reframed from a legal proceeding, dubious though it may have been, to a violent uprising then the plan would be aborted. This is evident in the January 6th proceedings. After McConnell denounces the plan the shouts of the rioters can be heard. Once it is clear what is going on Senator Ted Cruz visibly throws in the towel and ceases all resistance. He knows that the game is up. If the whole thing was a bipartisan conspiracy to stop Trump’s dangerous maneuver, well, it worked.
The identity of “they” who were so touchy about the subject of Jan 6th isn’t clear from context. In the interview Carlson did not say Fox fired him because of this. Their reasons remain unknown. It could be that Carlson himself does not know. Even if Fox should ever make a statement of their motives there is no particular reason to expect them to be truthful.
Jacob got eleven months in solitary confinement, an extraordinary punishment. They don’t do that to murderers.
The procedure was stipulated by law. However the necessary contesting of electors, which got considerable support in the House, was arguably fraudulent and in bad faith.
Most commentators who support the "Right" have failed to make this connection. I wonder if they will and how they will react.
Yes, they stopped Trump's wild plot to stay in office. But then they went on to turn that day into an "insurrection" planned by Trump, even implying that the break-in was accomplished by armed men over the dead bodies of several Capitol Police.
This habit of not being content with a simple victory, but embellishing it with wild stories that aren't true is what Trump's supporters have become so weary of and why so many of them continue to support him. Many of his supporters are unaware of how long this has been going on (all the way back to Roswell, at least. Some include the Spanish-American War). They don't know that the JFK assassination was an inside job, that 9/11 was an inside job and that many "facts of science" have long since fallen in the face of real science.
And yet the continuous stream of "fake news" about Trump is enough to keep them outraged. If those opposed to Trump simply came clean and stayed honest, it is possible that Trump's whole momentum of support would evaporate.
If that were only true, but they got away with the JFK murder, they will get away with this crime, after all this time its in DC, and heard by DC judges.
Only a tactical nuke on DC can end this criminal mafia OP

DC is a satanic shithole, no 'truth' is going to kill this human vampire, they have run child-sex-slavery through Saudi (PEDO-DOLLAR) some +50 years now, and NADA have gone to prison nor is the subject even mentioned, just like Buffets "Boystown" in OMAHA during Bush-1 running kids into DC at night to be sodomized, FRANKLIN-COVERUP, involved highest levels of FBI, and recall that was RINOS in power, which is why none of the uni-party will ever do shit, except fuck children
